With a generous response from relatives and
friends, the non-profit foundation grew and the family searched
for worthy programs to fund. Joey loved the water and loved
to swim, so The Joey Pizzano Memorial Fund decided to focus
on sharing Joey's love of water with other children with special
needs and their families. The Joey Pizzano Memorial Fund,
Fairfax County Therapeutic Recreation as well as Fairfax County
Park Authority all collaborated their time and resources to
created the JPMF water skills and safety program which rapidly
evolved into the current "JPMF Splash" program where children learn to be safe and have fun and
in and around the water.

In addition to water safety programs, the JPMF has supported
numerous other projects affecting the special needs community
such as numerous donations to local county special education
programs and donations to Jill's
House and Clemynjontri
Park.
The Joey Pizzano Memorial Fund relies on the support and
contributions from individual donors and local businesses
interested in supporting its mission of improving the lives
of children with special needs and their families. JPMF's
annual golf challenge is its primary fundraising event. Grants
have been received from Jimmy Buffet's Singing for Change,
the Knights of Malta, the Heinz foundation and the Murray
Foundation.
