grant Application Process

All applicants must complete a grant application to submit a request. Please choose the category below that best meets your requirements:

  • The purpose of our grants are to provide funding for specific programs/services that are cost-effective and add significant value in the following categories:

    1. Water Safety: Implementing the JPMF Splash or programs for individuals with special needs to "be safe and have fun in and around the water."

    2. Empowerment: Supporting programs/services that encourage self-sufficiency, independent living, and vocational training.

    3. Education: Promoting inclusion within school systems and sports by supporting programs and services that ensure individuals with special needs have equitable access to academic environments and athletic opportunities alongside their peers.

    4. Recreational: Funding activities for individuals with special needs and their families that encourage social interaction and fun to support the emotional health of the family.

  • Grants are restricted to local government agencies, 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, and private companies that provide services for people with developmental disabilities. Grant allocations do not support administrative or operational overhead costs.

  • Upon approval, the grantee will sign and return the Joey Memorial Fund Grant Agreement. Grant funds will be forwarded upon JPMF's receipt of the signed agreement.

    The grantee agrees to:

    • Promote/advertise JPMF to participants and volunteers in funded programs.

    • Link to JPMF from their website (if applicable).

    • Distribute flyers, newsletters, and publications related to JPMF programs.

    If the grant is for the implementation of a JPMF Splash! program, the grantee will receive the JPMF Splash Program Guide.

    Depending on the amount and type of grant awarded, a final report at the end of the grant period may be required. The report must include the following:

    • Number of participants with special needs that benefitted from the sponsored program

    • Number of volunteers who worked with program participants. Include ratio of staff and volunteers to participants during a session.

    • If the grant award is for implementation of a water safety program, provide number of splash lessons provided.

    • A brief impact narrative: an explanation of how the program impacted the individual, family and community involved. Demonstrate how program goals were met.

    • Accounting of the expenditure of funds

    • JPMF appreciates hearing from grant recipients and, specifically the clients served, about how the funded program changed/impacted their lives. Submission of photos, parent surveys and letters of support would be appreciated.

    • Pertaining to water safety programs, what safety rule /lessons were taught and how were these implemented.

    • Other information, as requested by JPMF. Photos and testimonials appreciated.
